We're proud to present a limited special edition of FloFilz' forthcoming album 'Hagaki', a project dedicated to Japan. This edition celebrates the tactile, handcrafted tradition of Japanese culture, bringing together music and the timeless craft of washi paper.

The Washi Special Edition LP is limited to 30 copies. Washi is a traditional Japanese paper processed by hand using natural fibers from the inner bark of select local trees. A co-production by kumonone & Melting Pot Music. 

In a digital age where music is constantly available, choosing vinyl is an act of intention – a desire to slow down, drop the needle, and savor sound. This washi sleeve was born from the same spirit.

Crafted from Unryu washi, a special kind of Japanese paper made in Echizen—a region with a paper-making history stretching back about 1,500 years—this washi record sleeve carries within it the harmony of nature and human hands.

“Unryu” means “cloud dragon.” Its name comes from the long natural plant fibers – suspended in water—intertwine to create patterns that resemble dragons swirling through mist. They are formed by the motion of water and fiber alone: a design not by hand, but by nature.

Each washi paper was handmade in Echizen, then bound one by one by a Japanese bookbinder who brought careful attention to every fold and edge. Because the paper is born from natural fibers, and every sleeve is handcrafted, no two are the same. Each one is a unique, tactile experience—meant to be touched, observed, and appreciated like a work of art. While modern machines can now mass-produce washi-like paper, only handmade Washi retains the texture, warmth, and quiet depth that evolve with time. No two sleeves are the same. Just like a favourite vinyl record, it becomes more personal the more you return to it.
