The Twit 1, II, Three are band from Cologne, consisting of producer Twit One, vibraphonist Maxime von Koblinski, and drummer Niklas Schneider (Keshavara). Their debut album will be released via Melting Pot Music, featuring a unique blend of hip-hop, krautrock, tropicalia, spiritual jazz and ambient music.
Twit One has been shaping the Cologne beat and hip-hop scene for more than 15 years as a DJ, producer, radio host, and co-manager of the Groove Attack record store. For Twit, hip-hop is less of a genre and more of an attitude and cultural practice deeply rooted in African-American music history. With The Twit 1, II, Three, he brings his sonic vision into a band context for the first time. He is joined by the classically trained musician Maxime von Koblinski on the vibraphone and Niklas Schneider from the Cologne kraut-pop band Keshavara on drums. Twit acts as the musical director, provides samples and concepts while occasionally playing the bass.
In 2024, The Twit 1, II, Three self-released a C20 cassette tape limited to 100 copies and performed at the following venues and festivals: Week-End Festival (Cologne), Soundball Festival (Cologne), Philharmonie (Essen), Schleuse 2 (Düsseldorf), Aktionshaus (Berlin), De Duivel (Amsterdam)
Following these shows, the band spent a year and a half working on their debut album at Satori Studio in Cologne-Müngersdorf. The self-titled album will be released in October 2026 and breaks down musical barriers, with hip-hop, krautrock, tropicalia, spiritual jazz, and ambient forming its core pillars. A conventional description would be "Twit One fully produced with real instruments." A more poetic one would be "Sun Ra and J Dilla on their way to Jupiter, with a stopover in Montreux." Eight out of the ten tracks are instrumental. Guest vocals are provided by two long-time musical friends who also release music via MPM: Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Turt (Summers Sons).
